Help! My brain has gone on Vacation!

It has been awhile....

I really don't know what my problem is, but no ideas have popped into this crazy head of mine. I was really on a roll, for a bit, but all of a sudden my brain is out of service. It may be the fact that I have other things to get done or I just feel like I have no writing ability. I really don't know how my sister writes almost everyday.....I guess her brain is still in service and she is great with putting her thoughts down on paper.

If my blog was called "Whining, Griping, and Things that Piss Me Off" I would be able to fill a page each day! No one wants to here about these things! I will just continue to vent to my husband and my sister with all the things that piss me off or I have gripes about.....and believe me I have plenty!

Life has been good. The weather is warmer and I mowed for the first time Tuesday. I have opened my windows and enjoyed the fresh breeze. I have a list that I want to complete by Easter. That list includes washing windows, inside and out. Mopping and waxing all the floors. Having my carpets and furniture steam cleaned. Replacing all my blinds and washing all the curtains and drapes.....I even want to repaint my kitchen! SO....I have a lot to be doing and a lot of things to keep me off of this computer! I still have a new camera that is sitting in a box on my dresser that I need to learn to use!

I am looking forward to my birthday weekend as my husband and I are taking Friday and Saturday and spending it on a lake in a cabin. I cannot wait to relax and unwind and leave all these chores FAR behind.

I will be back but don't look for me until after my birthday. I will post pictures and tell ya all about it.

Until sometime later, these thoughts of a family Warden are out of service!

It's Getting Closer!

YARD SALE TIME!

I know it is just the first part of March but I can feel the yard sales coming soon. I feel it in my veins! It is part of my blood.

My Mom loved yard sales and she has passed it on to her daughters. She always loved going and one of us girls had to take her, as she didn't drive. Mom always found something . She especially loved finding dolls and nick naks. If you ever told Mom how cute something was or how nice it was....she would give it to you! I sure wish yard sales would have been a common thing, when all 9 of us needed clothing, but they weren't. ...besides who would have driven her? Dad was always busy with work or reclining.

I have somehow passed this yard sale thing onto my grandkids. They range from ages 15 to 4. I try and keep it quiet, as to when I am going, so I don't have to take the whole bunch. My daughters also love to hunt for treasures. My 4 year old granddaughter loves going and we try to find a couple, on Friday mornings, before I take her to daycare. I just love to see what she picks out and just how proud and happy she is with her great find!

I haven't found any great bargains since my stereo system, soda machine and my outdoor dining set. I keep on looking and looking and I just know I will find something I just can't pass up. Yes, most sales I have to same kind of junk at home and there is nothing I can't do without!

I am a surface shopper...I will not dig or go through boxes. My sister and daughter do and they really find some good stuff! Maybe I should rethink my shopping technique and start a little digging myself! My daughter looks for clothes for the kids, as she has 3. My sister looks for remakes as she has an imagination to make junk into treasure!

Each year my sisters and I (all 4 of us) have at least one weekend we get together to go to yard sales. Most of the time it is just what is in town but we have gone to the 61 mile sales and the 100 mile sales! I can't say we found great bargains but we all came home with some type of treasure and worn out. Being together and sharing, laughing and having a good time is the best part....but a bargain would be nice too!

So I am already dreaming of yard sales. You see...it's in my blood!

Saturday Morning at my Place

Yes, folks, this is what I am up to! It works out really well because I can stay on the computer and soak at the same time. I am so multi tasking! The reason, I chose to sit here, is because the cord is too short to fit anywhere else.....how convenient!

I think of soaking my feet, almost everyday, but never seem to get it done. The foot soaker is nice but it sure makes a lot of noise, so I have to do it when I am alone. Sure, I am at home each day but never seem to want to roll up my sleep pants, get the towels out, the pumice stone, lotion and just sit in one place! Today is the day these old women's feet get beautified!

I go to bed at night and it sounds like sand paper scraping across the sheets. I can't sleep under a blanket as my cracked ugly feet get snagged up in the material! I never thought I would have "old lady's feet" but damn I got 'em!

I read where you pour a little milk, into the foot soaker, and it removes dead skin. I am beginning to worry if I will have any skin left when I am done....or feet! It is nice and relaxing while I surf the web or write this mindless blog!

I got up this morning, fixed breakfast, did dishes, made the bed, straightened and started laundry. Yep...I am takin time for myself! I can now go to bed tonight without the sound of sandpaper scraping across the sheets. I will have feet as soft as velvet. I just gotta remember to rinse and lotion when I am done or I will smell like spoiled milk!

I should be good to go for another 6 months! That's how long it has been. I really should at least put it into a monthly routine. Now, if I just had someone to give me a pedicure!

Well, that's the exciting life of the Warden......check back again soon if ya wanna know the thoughts of a family warden.

If Dreams and Wishes Came True...

Just had to share something my granddaughter said the other day. I was taking her to daycare and she all of a sudden said "Darn it, my dream didn't come true!" I asked her what that was and she said "I wanted to fly!" I just had to laugh and wonder what other things she dreams of.

We lost a dog (hit by a car) in December. She still talks about how pretty Sugar was and that she is in heaven with wings. She said that when she sees her again she will be a big dog and pretty with dog wings.

She does have an imagination. We play Barbies and ponies and she can come up with some crazy ideas. We swim, dance and play.

It must be great to be a kid and have such images of things in our minds. To truly believe that dreams and wishes can come true. They can dream with no boundaries. They can dream of flying or being a famous dancer or President of the USA. My dreams consist of retirement and vacation later in the year. I have given up on being a famous dancer, flying or being the President!

In the summer Izzy and I sit outside and look up at the stars. "Star light. star bright, first star I see tonight...I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight." Hmmmmm...wonder what she's wishes for?

Kids can say the craziest things. If you have a small child or grandchild make notes of what they say. Art Linkletter had a show called "Kid's say the Darnest things"....he was right...they sure do!

My little song for today....

"I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don't feel so bad"

So many things to do today, but that's all I got on my mind! Bring it on!

Any Excuse for a Party!

This Sunday is the 84th Oscar Awards. Did you know that some people have Red Carpet Parties? What the heck do you do at a Red Carpet party? Do you dress in a gown ? Do you serve appetizers and give out goodie baskets? Do you have a fashion show and decide the best dressed? Tell me what the heck does one do?

I don't pay much attention to the awards, as most of the movies that are nominated I have never heard of! Maybe I just don't get out much but how do they decide who is up to win an award? I have to believe they are a bunch of snobby people. People that wouldn't be caught dead in a Kevin James or Tim Allen movie. It is very rare that a comedy wins.

At the 2010 awards "The Kinds Speech" won as best picture, 2009 "The Hurt Lock" and in 2008 "Slumdog Millionaire"....WHAT? Where was I when these movies came to the local theater?

One of the most popular and longest running movies "The Wizard of Oz" never won an Oscar. I have to believe that "The Academy" was too snobby to watch a film about witches, small people and a girl named Dorothy.

If you are planning your own "Red Carpet" party, I hope you have a good time. I hope all those snobby movies, you went to see, are nominated and perhaps wins. As for me, I will be watching another channel and see the outcome, of the awards, on Monday. I am sure I will say "I've never heard of that movie!"

Anything for a party!

Just a crazy thought that popped in my head for today. Gotta get busy and clean my own carpet...and NO it is NOT red!

Come again if ya wanna know....the thoughts of a family warden.

Countdown To The Opening of Redneck Season

Daytona 500

Well, it is only just a few more days till us proud rednecks will welcome the beginning of Nascar season! Woo-Hoo! The Daytona 500 will be ran on Sunday, February 26th in Daytona Florida.

It was 53 years ago today, February 22nd, that the first race was ran in Daytona. In 1959 the race was actually ran on the beach in Daytona. Today the race is held at the speedway in Daytona. The total acreage is 480 with the infield being 180 acres with a 29 acre lake . That is huge! Wayne and I actually got to visit the track and was able to walk around it and take pictures in Victory Lane. You would not believe what a high banking that track has...it was impossible to walk from the bottom of the lane to the top...really!

Back in 1959 the winning speed was 135 mph...today that speed is 191 mph. The prize money, paid out in 1959, was 67K plus, today the winnings are 18 million plus!

The Daytona is like the Super Bowl or World Series to Nascar fans. When a driver says they have a Daytona 500 win it is like having a Super Bowl Ring. It is one of the most anticipated races of the year and to win it is a honor. The late Dale Earnhardt took 19 years, of racing, before he could claim the title of a Daytona 500 winner, and he was a great driver.

Come Sunday, my husband and I will have the surround system on and the Daytona 500 roaring in the living room. We will drink a few beers and cheer our driver on (Dale JR) until the big wreak comes and takes him out! We will keep watching and hope our second choice wins and hope Jr does better the next race. We will probably fix Nascar snacks just like all you folks fix your Super Bowl snacks.

Some people say what can you see in cars going around and around in circles? Well, what the heck do they see in hitting a ball into a small hole, hitting a ball with a bat, trying to get a ball in a basket or across the goal post? It is a sport and it is a very dangerous and grueling sport. It takes just as much talent as any person who is considered a great athlete.

I will leave you with a few Redneck/Nascar jokes and I hope you all tune in Sunday for the Great American Race....and if you don't have a driver cheer for Dale Jr!

You think the last four words of the National Anthem are "Gentlemen start your engines"

You have the words Nascar in your wedding vows.

You spell out Nascar in Christmas lights.

You can remember the entire Nascar schedule but can't remember your wifes birthday, kids birthdays or anniversary.

You think heaven looks a lot like Daytona Beach.

The word "bank" makes you think of turn three at Daytona.
